Buildings that used to be there
A century of historic mapping compared with today's satellite view. Where a cottage, farmstead or barn once stood and no longer does, there's often a planning history most buyers never discover.
Land finding for self-builders, anywhere in the UK
Plothunt searches whole counties for places to build a home – the plots already for sale, and the lost cottages, forgotten farmsteads and overlooked gaps between houses that nobody has listed yet.
Every site comes with a realistic view of what you could get permission to build, before you spend a penny on it.
We're at capacity right now
Plothunt is being rolled out to small groups at a time. Leave your details and we'll let you know when your place is ready.
Finding a plot to build on anywhere in the UK usually means weeks of trawling planning portals, auction listings and old maps, hoping to stumble on the site everyone else has missed. The best plots are rarely advertised at all. They're found by people who know where to look.
Plothunt does that looking for you – across an entire county, in the places the listings never reach.
A century of historic mapping compared with today's satellite view. Where a cottage, farmstead or barn once stood and no longer does, there's often a planning history most buyers never discover.
Every village and town in the county is checked for overlooked infill plots – large gardens and spaces between houses with road frontage and room to build.
Flood risk, Green Belt and conservation constraints, title boundaries and sale history, and a decade of planning decisions nearby – pulled together for every site before you ever see it.
Plothunt shows you the plots already for sale through agents, auctions and land portals. It also finds the sites that haven't been listed anywhere: land whose owners may never have thought about selling. You see both – so you're not fighting over the same handful of advertised plots as everyone else.
Every site is weighed against its own history, the planning rules that apply to it, and how similar applications nearby have actually been decided. You get a straightforward view of what's likely to be approved – a replacement home, a new house in a garden, or nothing at all – so you can concentrate on plots where consent is realistic rather than hopeful.
A few miles from a market town. Walking distance to a mainline station. Near water. Off the A-road – or on it. Plothunt ranks hundreds of plots against your criteria and against how likely each one is to get permission, so the sites at the top of your list are the ones genuinely worth a visit.
Candidates arrive on an interactive map. Walk through them, add your notes, and mark the ones worth pursuing. Each verdict you give sharpens the next search, so the longer you use it the better it gets at finding plots you'd actually build on.
