How we look after your details

Last updated 18 October 2026

This page explains what happens to the details you give us when you join the Plothunt waiting list. It's written in plain English on purpose.

What we collect

Your name, your email address and the county you're interested in. If you choose to tell us, also the closest town, the size of plot you're after, and whether you're building for yourself, a developer or a land speculator. We also keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your internet connection's address for a short time, purely to stop automated sign-ups. It can't be turned back into your address.

Why we collect it

To let you know when a place on Plothunt becomes available, and to understand roughly which parts of the country people are searching in, and what sort of plot they want, so we can prioritise them. That's it. We rely on your consent to do this, which you give by submitting the form.

What we don't do

We don't sell, rent or share your details with anyone else. We don't send newsletters or marketing you haven't asked for.

Measuring the site and our advertising

We use Google Analytics, Google Ads and Meta (Facebook and Instagram) measurement tools, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to see how people find this site and whether our advertising is working – for example, how many visitors from an advert go on to join the list, and which counties they're interested in. These tools don't receive your name or email address. Analytics and advertising cookies are switched off by default and are only used if you accept them.

Where it's stored

Your details are stored securely with Cloudflare, our hosting provider, in a database that only we can access.

How long we keep it

Until you've been offered a place, or until you ask us to remove you – whichever comes first. If Plothunt doesn't go ahead, we'll delete the whole list.

Leaving the list

Email hello@plothunt.co.uk from the address you signed up with and we'll remove you within a few days. You can also ask us what we hold about you at any time.
